Whilst every effort is made to identify and report potential issues during sweeping or inspection, Waveney Chimney Sweeps cannot be held liable for any pre-existing faults or structural weaknesses within the chimney, flue, stove, liner, or fireplace. Any damage that becomes apparent as a result of sweeping may be due to age, wear, corrosion, poor installation, or materials that have deteriorated over time. These factors are outside of our control and liability.

Flue Liners and Appliances

If sweeping dislodges debris, broken liner components, or metal fragments, this may indicate a pre-existing fault or failure within the liner or stove system. In such cases, the appliance should not be used until fully assessed and repaired by a qualified installer or engineer. Waveney Chimney Sweeps is not responsible for flue liner failure or appliance defects that are not visible or detectable without invasive inspection.

Inspection and Testing

CCTV inspections and smoke tests are carried out to the best of our ability using the equipment available and are limited to what can be seen at the time of inspection. A successful smoke draw test does not guarantee long-term performance, especially if external factors such as weather, blockages, nesting, or structural movement occur after the visit.

Customer Responsibility

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure safe, clear access to the appliance and flue. Customers must not use the appliance if any signs of damage, poor draw, or smoke leakage are observed after our visit — and should seek further advice promptly.

Liability

Waveney Chimney Sweeps cannot be held liable for any damage, loss of use, or future performance issues arising from systems that are unsafe, inadequately installed, or deteriorating due to age. By using our services, you acknowledge that chimney sweeping is a maintenance task and not a guarantee of appliance safety or system integrity.
